U.S. hold on to defeat Germany, capture Algarve Cup trophy
The U.S. Women’s National Team got goals from Carli Lloyd, Abby Wambach and Lauren Cheney to defeat Germany 3-2 and claim the 2010 Algarve Cup title.
The win marked the seventh time the USA has won the tournament and sixth time in the last eight years. The U.S. has been in the final every year since 2002.

Sundhage names Algarve Cup squad»
Only eight players from last year’s 18-player roster made the squad this time around, meaning there will be some new faces at the tournament. Sundhage will bring an extra goalkeeper for training purposes as the Chicago Red Stars’ Jill Loyden makes her first national team roster, where she will team with U.S. starter Hope Solo and Nicole Barnhart.
